Elementary, Middle, and High School Competition
Here is your chance to win a Pep Rally at your school with Slider!

The elementary, middle, or high school that collectively raises the most money for the Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes will receive an award plaque and a visit from Slider at your school on a mutually agreeable date. Note: Collected pledges and donations are due on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 (postmarked by Monday, April 21, 2008). Please read below for important details about this prize.

How Can I Get My School Involved in the Competition?
There are many ways to raise money as a school for the Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes:

  • Register as a "school team" to participate in the event: April 4, 5, 6, 2008 at many pools throughout Northeast Ohio. Or, hold your own "Swim for Diabetes" at your school's pool on another day.

Be sure to choose a team captain and a team name. This website makes fundraising easier than ever. Each student and teacher can create a personal fundraising page to send emails to friends and family encouraging their support. Keep track of your individual and school team online fundraising on your personal webpage.

  • You do not have to swim to WIN! There are plenty of other ways to raise money at your school for the Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes:
    • Dress down day: Suggest a dress down day at your school for every student who brings in $2.00 towards the Swim for Diabetes event.
    • Have the event announced at your school and ask that everyone contribute by making a simple donation. Place a donation box in each classroom. Every little bit helps!

Important Rules:

  • School Teams swimming in the event must indicate school team and name on registration form so the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland is aware that your school is competing for the pep rally with Slider.
  • If your school is not swimming, but is raising money for the Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes, please have the school team captain contact the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland at (0 or as soon as possible so we know that you are competing for the pep rally with Slider.
  • School teams are eligible the pep rally with Slider, as well as individual prizes, but not the general team prizes (more details about prizes will be posted on this website soon).
  • In order to be eligible to win the pep rally with Slider, all collected pledges and donations are due on or before April 22, 2008. No exceptions!
