Why Support the 2008 Verizon Wireless SCUBA for Diabetes?

Did You Know?

  • 1 in 13 people in Northeast Ohio has diabetes, yet 30% are undiagnosed.
  • The direct and indirect costs of diabetes total $132 billion annually in the United States.

By supporting the Verizon Wireless SCUBA for Diabetes, you are making an investment in the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland (DAGC). With five health educators on staff, DAGC is the only local nonprofit organization that provides direct services to the 1 in 13 people affected by type 1 and type 2 diabetes in this community. DAGC is not affiliated with the American Diabetes Association or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Verizon Wireless SCUBA for Diabetes draws people together from all over Greater Cleveland in a healthy activity for an important cause. All money raised stays right here in Northeast Ohio to support prevention and risk assessment, diabetes education, local medical research, and Camp Ho Mita Koda for children with diabetes.
