Why Choose Camp Ho Mita Koda?
Located on 72 beautiful wooded acres, children will create lifetime friendships and unforgettable summer memories!
Camp Ho Mita Koda, the oldest summer camp in the nation for children with diabetes was created to help children realize that they are not alone living with diabetes. Top-notch medical professionals from University Hospitals, The Cleveland Clinic and Akron Children's Hospital, along with trained Camp Counselors provide vital diabetes self-care skills that help campers become more independent and confident in managing their diabetes.
It is a camp where everyone understands what kids are going through. Our philosophy of camp focuses on four key areas: intentional and sometimes unintentional self-management learning opportunities, distress reduction for both parents and campers, understanding of diabetes resilience and strengths, and nutrition.
Campers will experience a traditional camp experience with a variety of fun summertime activities such as rock climbing, paintball, swimming, ropes course, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, arts & crafts, and team sports.
Registration includes all medical supplies through the generours support of : Animas, The Cleveland Clinic, Direct Relief USA, LifeScan, Lilly, Medtronic, MetroHealth Hospital, Novo Nordisk, OmniPod, Sanofi, Tandem Diabetes and University Hospitals for making this possible.
